Lucky Plants That Can Bring Prosperity and Good Health Into Your Life

People tend to buy plants for several reasons. However, aside from bringing a particular aesthetic to a space, plants can also bring good fortune, luck and prosperity into our lives. So, if you want to spruce up your home with these lucky plants, check out the following list that we have compiled for you.

#1. Watch Your Prosperity Grow Through the Money Tree

Investment, Concept, Business, Finance

The name says it all. As per Feng Shui experts, the money tree plant, also known as the Guiana Chestnut, French Peanut, Provision Tree, and Saba Nut, is considered as the luckiest indoor plant as it can attract luck, prosperity and wealth. And, I am sure you must have noticed this ornamental houseplant in most Chinese restaurants. Sometimes they are even adorned with a few Chinese gold coins (and don’t even think about stealing these coins, that is, if you don’t want an entire generation of Bruce Lee run after you).

Now, aren’t you curious to know how this tree became such an auspicious plant? Well, let’s hear the story then: Once upon a time (that’s how all stories usually start, don’t they?), there was a poor man who earnestly prayed for money. Then, he came across a strange-looking tree and he used it to make money by selling the plants he grew from its seeds. Since then, the tree was considered as a lucky tree.

Similar to jade plants, the money tree plant is actually a species of tree from the genus Pachira belonging to the family Malvaceae and this tree is usually made by braiding many young and tender money plants. The central trunk consists of a range of braided stems and the large shiny green leaves are all shaped like a lance tip.

Money trees can grow between 3 and 6 ft. (0.9 – 1.8 m) tall and under the perfect humid conditions, some can even flower and produce edible nuts. But the most delightful thing about this tree is that it can grow easily, with moderate sunlight and water and require only low plant maintenance.

According to Feng Shui followers, “Money trees should be placed in homes and businesses to attract good fortune. But, one thing to keep in mind is that it should never be placed in your bathroom as it can drain or flush the positive energy away.”

#2. Bring Home Luck With Lucky Bamboo

Bamboo, Lucky, Cone, Tree, Decoration, Feng, Shui

In traditional Feng Shui practices, lucky bamboo or Dracaena has been used for more than 50 centuries. Some other names for this plant include Chinese water bamboo and the Goddess of Mercy. It is believed to be an auspicious plant that can help to bring a very peaceful, wise and happy energy into your home.

Even though this plant looks a bit like bamboo (and named as such also), it is not in the same family as the authentic bamboo Poaceae. With long leaves that come from long straight, fleshy stems, the stems of the lucky bamboo can grow up to 3.2 ft. (1 m). However, it is essential to note that Feng Shui practitioners recommend the shorter variations of the “bamboo” plant.

Now, each bamboo stalk and its arrangement have a specific significance and can play a different role in keeping a house happy and safe. Here are some tips that you can follow:

  • Put the bamboo stalk in a vase with stones and water
  • If you want to attract happiness and longevity in your house, put 3 stalks in the vase
  • If you want to bring wealth to your home, opt for 5 stalks
  • If you want good luck in your life, go for 6 stalks
  • 7 stalks are recommended for a good health
  • If you want to bring both great wealth and health, choose a large vase with 21 bamboo stalks in it

Tips on how to take care of this plant:

  • Put it in a ventilated container with good drainage
  • The soil should be moist and it is essential to change the water once or twice every fortnight
  • Any yellow leaves should be trimmed
